Using real or faux fur for upholstery adds a cozy, chic element to any interior space. We love cladding a chair or sofa in fur simply because it feels so good when you sit in it. Almost like a hug.
Eero Saarinen’s Womb chair–featured above–was originally created at fellow designer Florence Knoll’s request. Knoll asked Saarinen for a “chair that was like a basket full of pillows.” The original was done in a knit fabric; cladding the classic lounge chair in fur takes the coziness to the next level.
We upholsted the chrome frame swivel chair featured below in Persian Lamb fur.
And we created this custom fur cushion in mocha for the wood-framed chaise featured below.
For this pair of vintage swivel chairs we matched a menswear windowpane pattern with fur cushions to create a balance of tailored + chic.
The tufted armchair is upholstered in a faux fur–it’s a cream boucle. Even though it’s not real fur, the plush texture and warm look add a touch of opulence to the home.
