Looking for new furniture, take a look at what you’ve already got
At Double R Design, we love to outfit clients’ spaces with repurposed vintage furniture. Sometimes great vintage pieces are in your home already. In the case of a recent interior design project in a client’s second home upstate, there was a treasure trove right downstairs.
Above you can see two refinished chairs we pulled from the basement of the clients’ Brooklyn brownstone, plus a folky wooden-inlaid vintage table top we found at a local flea.
These are the chairs in the condition that we found them. My clients weren’t too optimistic about using them in their chic new home, but we can be very persuasive!
We repaired and refinished the frames and reupholstered the chairs in a woven herringbone from Sanderson, added a leather welt detail and a nailhead trim from Samuel&Sons for a more tailored look. We were all so happy with the result.
What might you have in your basement?
