The Story Behind The Chair In The New York Times

We were thrilled to be featured in The Fix column of The New York Times this week! The chair featured below, from a project in Washington DC, was the article’s lead photo.

We had wanted a pair of sleek and sexy, low-slung accent chairs for our client’s living room. Nothing over-stuffed or traditional. We landed on a pair of Alky Armchairs by Giancarlo Piretti. The smooth lines and curvature of the silhouette felt just right.
Sometimes our clients gasp at the sight of unfinished pieces. It’s hard to see beyond the tattered fabric and worn-out seats. But if you look with a generous eye, you can see the elegant silhouette.
We chose a jacquard velvet called Tiger Mountain from Dedar–it’s imaginative and chic. Abstract tigers pounce around the velvet ground.
Not only do they look cool: they’re comfortable, too.
